Edinpharm is a pharmaceutical, non-profit, buying group , based in Edinburgh. We support independent pharmacies across Scotland, Northern Ireland and northern England.
The company was founded in 1996 by a dedicated group of independent community pharmacists. We pride ourselves in bringing the benefits of being part of a ‘virtual multiple’, to our members, whilst still allowing them to retain their own independence and decision making.
Our goal is to protect and promote the growth of independent pharmacies by leveraging collective buying power, promoting beneficial relationships with people who matter to independent pharmacy, and maximising the return on investment to members of the group.
These are Edinpharm’s principle suppliers. However, we have relationships with many more pharmaceutical suppliers to cover all of our members’ requirements.
We joined Edinpharm towards the end of the pandemic. We had noticed a slip in our GP coupled with a large increase in our prescription numbers. The pressure of working during the pandemic and trying to keep up with the increase in business meant there was less time available to keep a tight grip on purchases and search for best prices. Membership is now a non-negotiable for me, I have complete confidence that I’m getting the best market rate prices for drugs, and there are also other savings to be made, for example discounted renewal costs for our PMR.
After our full first year of trading with Edinpharm our GP increased by 5%, something I would never have managed without the collective buying strength of the group. My only regret is that I didn’t join years ago.
